The youth division of the Royal Flemish Chemical Society (Jong-KVCV) organised its thirteenth edition of the Chemistry Conference for Young Scientists on 16 to 18 March 2016 in Blankenberge (Belgium). We'll welcome you all back on February 21 to 23, 2018 at ChemCYS 2018!
The conference gives young attendees the opportunity to present early results of their research. Topics are organised in six parallel sessions, focussing on the typical research domains in chemistry. The best oral and poster presentation of each session will be awarded.
Plenary keynote lectures by world-renowned scientists are scheduled as well. Prof. dr Karin Öberg (Harvard University) and Prof. dr Bert Meijer (TU Eindhoven) will give high level lectures in the fields of astrochemistry and supramolecular chemistry, respectively. Moreover, we are very proud that Nobel Prize laureate Prof. dr Sir Harold Kroto will highlight recent advances in the field that led to his Nobel Prize in 1996.
In parallel, four seminars focussing on soft skills will prepare the participants on life after graduation. We will focus on “How to use social media for science”, “The chemistry between people: leadership and entrepreneurship”, “How to improve your C.V.” and “How to improve your reviewing skills”.
Last but not least, ChemCYS features KaféCV, our entrance level networking event where participants get to know various companies and their recruitment policies. Unlike traditional job events, KaféCV focusses on career development rather than existing vacancies.
The organising committee is proud to announce that this edition of ChemCYS was again officially endorsed by the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS), the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). The conference was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO).
Stay tuned !
